Hello to everyone, we at Shore Thing Fishing Charters hope all is well to everyone reading this. Spring time is here and the catches brought in already have been very good. After a superb year of fishing in 08 our goals and expectations are very high this year.
We kept boats working through the winter this past season, doing a number on the specks and reds. For the most part the winter was a mild one, which means the fishing should be red hot for months to come. Captain Sonny was able to be a guest speaker at the Saltwater Sportsman National Seminar Series as well as the Got Fish event in Jackson, MS. This year, Shore Thing Charters will be featured in Sport Fishing Magazine, Mississippi Sportsman, Marsh and Bayou Magazine. We also have a television show lined up with Academy Sports and Outdoors this spring.
In the past two weeks healthy numbers of speckled trout, red fish, flounder, sheepshead, and black drum have been seen at the cleaning tables. With such an incredible spring 'bite' last season we are all excited about seeing which boat will get big trout of the year. Capt Matt Tusa's boat took top honors last year with a beautiful 7 pounder(caught in mid April). The summer fishing last season was well above average. With good catches coming in the early morning, most days we were able to 'beat the heat'. Of course the coveted fall fishing is usually a conservative bet for nice weather and great fishing. Our hopes are very high for another awesome season of fishing.
Shore Thing has once again expanded its arsenal with the addition of Captain Kyle Jarreau(pronounced (JA-ROW). Capt Kyle come to us with over 15 years of guiding experience. Jarreau's specialty is inshore fishing for speckled trout, red fish and flounder in the Biloxi Marsh and Chandeleur Islands. The other guides are already having trouble keeping up with this seasoned pro. As with all Shore Thing employees, Capt Kyle conducts himself with a very positive, fun loving, and professional attitude on and off the water. With 3 boats fishing together the guides are able to cover more water and find fish even faster.
The Shore Side Lodge, with a water front location, minutes from the beaches, shopping, casinos, and restaurants was a hit in 08. With more and more large groups wanting to stay close together, Shore Side can make this happen. Now that Shore Thing has 3 boats in operation, we can accommodate 10 anglers on and off the water. Our corporate packages went over very smooth, as well as: birthday parties, office retreats, family reunions, bachelor parties, and simple weekend get a ways. Of course, small groups are always welcome.
Thanks to your help, Shore Thing Fishing Charters is constantly growing. We pride ourselves on our friendly and professional service. Feel free to check out website for information on latest fishing reports and pictures( or call 228-342-2206). If for any reason you wish to be removed from our mailing list, simply reply to this email saying so, and we apologize for any inconvenience.

    Thank you,
    Capt Mike and Lindsay Thompson

This Mako shark was hauled in on 2/25, 70 miles south of Port Forchon..He weighed 1,149.5 lbs. Bill Walters of Grandbaruy, TX caught him while fishing with Capt. Bill Staff with 'The Sea Spray' out of Orange Beach, AL. Capt. Bill said, the shark had already ate a couple of wahoos before they finally got him hooked with a 1/2 of a skip jack tuna. It took 6 hrs to get to the boat and then the real work started trying to get the monster in the boat. When they cleaned the shark, they found a 60 lb. Wahoo in his belly...

First pic was taken on Tuesday of this week and the second was taken on Sunday. I think it's safe to say they are warming up to the idea of spring, but clearly bunched up.

Notice the white hen in the picture to the right with a beard.

Last picture goes to show that were there is turkeys, not too far behind will be the coyotes. I can't tell you how many times I have been working a hot bird only to find them shut completely up and dis-appear.. And 9 times out of 10 here is your reason for that happening..Coyotes are everywhere and keep constant pressure on our MS turkeys year round.
