Posting this to see if anybody out there has shot/is currently shooting the Maxima Reds by CX. What are the likes/dislikes? I personally choose speed in an arrow. The Maxima Red doesn't not satisfy that choice for me. If a hunter prefers that pile driving feature of an arrow, this is the arrow…

My 12 year old daughter, Megan Matthews, got her first bow last week. She only practiced about an hour and on her first hunt this season she got her first kill. It was a perfect shot about 40 yards away. We tracked the doe about 50 yards.
Sweet kill! Tell Megan congratulations for us.

Welcome to the site, but, and we look forward to seeing on the forum often!

Y'all are not going to believe the shots she has made. I was making her practice because we have a hog hunt at antlers and wings plantation this weekend. Misty day in Simpson county for opening day of bow season. Had a few deer on their feet. We just uploaded this season's premier episode, check it out! http://www.realsouthhunting.com/

can you hunt canada geese with a bow in MS?
I don't think that's a legal means of take for migratory game birds, bud. I'd steer clear unless you talk to a federal agent and he says it's fine.

On the last day I had to bow hunt before gun season began I got this doe at close range. She was getting so close I had to pull back before she came out from the cover and took the shot about 10 yds away. She only made it to the woods and slightly up the hill next to my plot.

With a good breeze out this past weekend in SW Mississippi I took this doe with my bow at about 20 yards. It was a good hit as she didn't go far at all. Listen just after the shot as you can hear limbs cracking as she falls 50 yards away.
Made a hunt today and it was pretty uneventful. Had a deer way off blow at me (I assume) and saw a little before dark. Other than that I saw some turkeys and armadillos, squirrels and three dogs too.

Harvested my first pictures from the trail cam... got the card today. It was both encouraging…

I had to go to my dentist's office today in Baton Rouge, and in referring me to an endodontist he told me that the one I've used before had died last week - and I couldn't believe what happened.

Apparently Dr. Alan Sandifer was a big bow hunter, and was practicing in his backyard early last…

looking for reasonably priced bow shop to re-string and tune my bow any suggestions would be great. I live on the coast (Bay St. Louis area)
Try The Bow Shop on Dedeaux Rd. in Gulfport if you want something close by. Shouldn't cost you more than $100 to get it re-strung. If you have time I would ride over to Bass Pro. They have a lot of stuff on sale right now and really great staff in the archery department.

I am interested in trying a new broadhead this year (I'm not a big fan of mechanicals). Has anyone used an 'Atom'? If so, what kind of results did you have?
