I prefer to make my own. The deer on my lease love it. You need a thermometer for this
2 Cups of sugar
1 cup of water
3 Tablespoons of butter
1 cup of molasses
1 tablespoon of salt
Place all in a large pot and mix together. Put the stove on medium-high and let boil. The mixture will need to reach 270-280 degrees Fahrenheit. Then take the pot off the eye and let it cool until The mixture starts to thicken. Once it does, poor it into an container (mold). I usually use a butter tub. I sometimes place a stick in the block to assist with easy removal.
The butter is the key ingredient.
