My wife and I recently got a boat and are learning how to bass fish. We live in Clarke county MS and are in need of any tips we could get. We would be mostly interested in fishing in our area (Clarke, Wayne, Lauderdale, Jasper, Neshoba, and Kemper counties). Any suggestions on what lakes are the best and what baits to use would be greatly appreciated. We're not trying to be pros, we just want to get out and have a good time.

Thanks in advance for any help!
I understand where you are coming from, I have just in the past couple of years swapped from bass fishing to saltwater fishing. I live in the same area as you, and learning to bass fish can be tricky but not impossible. My favorite bait or my go to bait is a texas rigged 8' black worm. Slow drag it across the bottom, sometimes you may want to bounce it. What you want to look for as far as area's to start fishing is points or drop off's. Throw to the deep water and work the bait up the banks. Spring time and warm weather I like throwing a soild white 3 blade buzz bait, and also zoom trick worms. Never fished Archusa before, but fishing the docks around it right now with a worm would probably work. Spring and summer throw the buzz baits along side of them will work as well. Summer months though get out early the hotter it get's the earlier the better. I also like using Pop R's in the spring and summer as well along the docks, but I fish Dalewood alot or did. Now I fish in Bay St. Louis chasing the specks and reds. Just remember though, if you have never fished a lake go slow in the boat until you learn it. The main thing is just get out there, because even a bad day on the water is better than a good day at work. If I can help anymore just email me.
